Description Download Usage Shareware Misc

Description : This script will easly download (trough internet ftp) any guitar tablatures from any artist and make an archive file of it.

Why ? If you were loging at school, losing 20 minutes to log on ftp.nevada.edu, coping the files on a MSDOS disk and rename them home on your amiga500 you don't need more explanation ... else think that's easier to use this script.

For users who don't use UNIX OS ...they must have to find a "unix like" (There is a "Virtuality unix" page on the web for MSDOS users)

DOWNLOAD :

UNIX Usage :

cd
gunzip olget.tgz
tar -xvf olget.tar
echo "set PATH=$PATH, $HOME/bin, . ">> .login

Optional Installation :
- get trough any olga ftp the INDEX.DIRNAMES files)
- get and compile lha (can be found on AMINET) and zip
- edit the olget file with a text editor and customise the preferences part



Usage :
---Interactive Session---
type "olget" in a csh, tcsh, ksh ... shell window (any term will fit)
and answers questions just press return will use default)
then u'll find your files in the tab directory

---Automatic Session---
ie:
olget white_zombie
(or olget w/white_zombie)

SHAREWARE

If you register you will recieve EVER lastests versions with the advertising (file downloaded with OLGET...) removed and probally with other nice improovments and bugs removed.

HISTORY AND BUGS :

- When the ftp server is full, it doesn't retry until there is a vacant place
- Doesn't download/update the INDEX.DIRNAMES file automaticly
- Need to improve the 'checking' stuff and make it sugests *improved in V1.02*
- The problem is that OLGA (On Line Guitar Archive) is not a lot updated
for some of its ftp server, since EMI position... look at www.olga.net

It has just been tested on a SGI corail IRIX

The "checking artist" part is fully effective, and if not found
it will suggest other names if given name isn't at olga
even if you type the name of the artist it works
(ie olget satriani will get the joe_satriani directory)
