This may be related to Richard Matheson novel "I am a legend". This scenario has been adapted at least twice in a movie, the most known is "The Omega Man" directed by Boris SAGAL 1971 staring the actor Charton Heston (Planet of the apes). The story is : After a bacteriologic war, one man survived and he is searching a serum for others humans who have been turned into zombies.

The Living Dead Girl (1982) AKA La Morte Vivante

Unique Jean Rollin take on zombies - maybe they don't like being undead and feasting on human parts? Sister Katherine, though dead, is revived by a toxic spill and is now the usual cannabalisitic zombie. Sister Helene, close to Katherine in life becomes even closer in undeath - she attempts to find the neccessary food supply on which ol' Kath will survive. Problem is, loyal to a fault sister Helene is really getting into her job while at the same time, Katherine wishes more and more to return to being dead-dead. Heavy nudity abounds in the film, and the gore, though extreme as always, is also excruciating - the camera lingers...lingers...and lingers longer on every sickening shot.
